Huma Khan elected as new Councillor for Cheadle West & Gatley

Following the council by-election resulting in Tom Morrison stepping down as Councillor, Lib Dem Huma Khan won the Cheadle West & Gatley by-election with over 45% of the vote!

Councillor Khan said the campaign was a "hard slog but so worth it," and that her top priorities include regeneration for Cheadle high street.

"I want to breathe some new life into it, and ensure the quality of the high street is great for the people of Cheadle West and Gatley," she added.

"I am also very passionate about protecting our green spaces, we'll be continuing our support towards [Gatley] golf club, where there are development proposals, it is something we want to preserve because it is an important space for the local residents."

MP for Cheadle, Tom Morrison, said "Absolutely buzzing that Huma Khan has been elected to represent Cheadle West & Gatley. Huma is one of the hardest working, passionate campaigners I know.

Huma has already stated that getting investment into Cheadle High Street and protecting our green spaces, like Gatley Golf Course and Gatley Carrs is top of her agenda.

She’ll be a great asset to the Lib Dem group on Stockport Council!"

A massive thank you to everyone that voted for Huma!
