Lib Dems secure a banking hub for our area!
After a long campaign led by Liberal Democrat councillors across our area, we are thrilled to announce that we have secured a banking hub in Cheadle Constituency.
Following bank closure after bank closure, the Liberal Democrats fought to protect resident's access to cash and following months of hard work and a petition with almost a thousand signatures, LINK has announced our area will be one of the few places in the country to host a hub which will be located in Bramhall.
A banking hub operates in a similar way to a bank branch and provides basic banking services but it's not restricted to customers of any particular bank. It is vital we protect access to cash for elderly and vulnerable residents.
Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Tom Morrison spearheaded the campaign and was delighted with the news, "This is a huge win for the people of Cheadle Constituency. It's fantastic to see the hard work of councillors and the support we received from local residents end in success. We will continue every day to fight to make our area an even better place to live."
The organisation Cash Access UK will now start the process of identifying a suitable site in Bramhall and organise the opening of the hub. Thought to take around 9-12 months before opening, the Liberal Democrats will continue to work with residents, businesses and the council to ensure a smooth opening.
