Offerton Fire Station saved!
Plans to shelve night and weekend cover at Offerton fire station have been stopped after a massive campaign by the Liberal Democrats and local residents, which garnered thousands of signatures and objections to the plans.
The plans would have seen night and weekend cover cancelled at the fire station, potentially putting lives at risk.
Cheadle Parliamentary Candidate Tom Morrison said: “The plans to remove overnight coverage at Offerton Fire Station would have meant longer response times. Make no mistake, this would have put lives at risk. As a member of the Greater Manchester Police, Fire and Crime Panel, I fought to have these plans discussed in public, not behind closed doors.
Thank you to everyone who has helped campaign to save Offerton Fire services, this victory is down to you."
