More than 200 local residents packed into Ford’s Lane Church on Thursday 6th March for a community meeting hosted by Tom Morrison MP to discuss the controversial plans to build 250 houses on land off Hall Moss Lane. The meeting provided an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns, ask questions, and engage directly with their local representatives about the proposed development.

The event was organised by Tom in response to widespread opposition to the plans, which would see significant construction on a valued green space. Attendees raised concerns about the impact on traffic and road safety, increased flood risks, the loss of wildlife habitats, and additional pressure on local infrastructure, including schools, GP services, and public transport.

Tom Morrison MP was joined by local councillors Dallas Jones and Jeremy Meal, who have been working closely with him to scrutinise the proposals and ensure residents' views are heard. The meeting featured an open-floor session where attendees were able to speak directly about their concerns, with many highlighting the potential damage the development could cause to the local community.

The overwhelming sentiment from the meeting was strong opposition to the plans. Tom Morrison MP made clear his stance against the development and pledged to back the community lead campaign against the development and take the feedback from residents forward in his formal response to the planning application.

Speaking at the event, Tom said:

“This is simply the wrong site for this scale of development. The developers need to think again and ditch their plans. Only three months ago, Bramhall was underwater. Building houses on a site so susceptible to flooding is utterly irresponsible. The additional strain on the local highway network and NHS services is too much for the community to bear.”

Tom is fully backing the local community’s campaign against the development, working alongside residents and local groups to ensure their voices are heard. He has pledged to fight this proposal every step of the way, offering guidance on how residents can submit objections and keeping them informed on key developments. Tom is committed to protecting Bramhall’s green spaces and ensuring that any future development is in the best interests of the community, rather than being driven by the priorities of developers.

Following the meeting, Tom encouraged residents to stay engaged in the process and continue making their voices heard. He outlined the next steps, including submitting formal objections to the council once the planning application is officially filed and exploring opportunities for further community action.

Residents concerned about the development are urged to stay in touch with Tom Morrison MP’s office (email Tom at tom.morrison.mp@parliament.uk) for updates and guidance on how to make their views known.
